The Tap Root

Here are some more pictures. This is Stephan Iwaniszek and Victoria Yaz. These are the two people who founded the Iwaniszek family here in the United States. Stefan immigrated from a small Ukrainian village call Lukowe in 1900. When he came here he was already 40 years old. He married Victoria and proceeded to produce 10 children (two sons and eight daughters).

He was killed in a hit and run accident while he was on his way to work in the coal mines. He was probably in his mid-60's at that time.

Victoria lived into the 1950's and my mother and father took care of her until she died. The three of them are pictured below one fall day in Livonia Michigan, a long time ago in a world that is very different from today.
